Daveland

This is for Dave – it’s a 70s cop show kind of vibe – not sure why, but hope you like it!
Try it.

Dave described my earlier splurge, Feckno, as “like Emerson lake and Palmer with Stevie Wonder and Bootsie Collins thrown in. It’s some bad ass beats goin down in the liddicrib.”

Thanks, that was very kind.

Never had to wear odd shoes…

There are many things I’ve had to do I didn’t like, hellholes I never thought I’d escape, people and situations I couldn’t wait to leave behind. But I never had to wear odd shoes. I saw the fella shuffling towards me, but I was looking down, as you do, trying to avoid the poppy collectors. Not because I didn’t want to give, but because I gave before and I left the damned poppy in the office…

I thought it was odd – or the shoes were odd, and I looked back as he ambled away, yep, this guy was doing it hard.

We all have our struggles; some have to fight harder than others.

Dancing with cigars

Ahh, another season… ooh look, time to do the dishes.
Or check out mediawatch’s latest podcast – interesting look at plans to outsource subbing at APN. Hard to believe that outsourcing will lead to less mistakes…

So you think you can tell

So, so you think you can tell,
Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange,
a walk on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground,
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

TV3 news carried an item tonight about mating tuatara – the first time in 200 years the creatures have been spotted mating in the wild. Well cmon – the last thing you want if you’re out on the job is someone taking photos of it eh? No wonder they’re dying out … Gestation 18 months… go the tuatara!
