Beer, but no skittles

Ah, beer. Great after an arduous week. It was all going so well, but then you get sideswiped, blindsided, kai-boshed …
But – heading away tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Perhaps this sums it up: I used to think I was wise beyond my years, now I’m wide beyond my ears … !

Poker-faced man

It’s been cold the last couple of days, a southerly blast bringing wind, rain and snow. Cold like that is a reason people go to the pub I guess, and up until recently I’d drive past a particular pub every morning around 6am. Every day there’s people in there playing poker machines. One fellow in particular, played the same machine. Weeks on end, sitting in the dimly-lit pub with his face lit up by the screen

He became one of the morning regulars – you know the people you see every day on your way to work: Sporty walky girl, grumpy smoker man, neat suit dude … He was poker-faced man.

After a couple of months poker-faced man wasn’t there. Just another of those images that float through your life, melt away with the mush…

Bus stop armchair

People wait for the bus every day. There’s a bus shelter with a metal seat. But then one day there’s an armchair. Someone wants their comfort. And if one person has one would the others be jealous? Would one get up a few minutes earlier to beat the others to the comfortable seat? Or would there be a stand-off – people ignoring it, or pretending they didn’t want the soft cushions over the cold aluminium …
The questions were never answererd. The council took the seat away.

And so it begins …

Sometimes you’re just awake. Tonight is one of those nights.
\Raining\
\First chill of winter\
It’s about time to get going with this site anyway …
